(6) Straujā tehnoloģiju attīstība un globalizācija ir radījusi jaunas problēmas personas datu aizsardzības jomā.
Personas datu vākšanas un apmaiņas apjoms ir būtiski pieaudzis.
Tehnoloģija ļauj gan privātām uzņēmējsabiedrībām, gan publiskām iestādēm vēl nepieredzētā apjomā savas darbības mērķiem izmantot personas datus.
Fiziskas personas aizvien biežāk personiska rakstura informāciju dara publiski un globāli pieejamu.
Tehnoloģija ir pārveidojusi gan ekonomiku, gan sociālo dzīvi, un tai arī turpmāk būtu jāuzlabo personas datu brīva aprite Savienībā un nosūtīšana uz trešām valstīm un starptautiskām organizācijām, vienlaikus nodrošinot personas datu augsta līmeņa aizsardzību.

The scale of the collection and sharing of personal data has increased significantly.
Technology allows both private companies and public authorities to make use of personal data on an unprecedented scale in order to pursue their activities.
Natural persons increasingly make personal information available publicly and globally.
Technology has transformed both the economy and social life, and should further facilitate the free flow of personal data within the Union and the transfer to third countries and international organisations, while ensuring a high level of the protection of personal data.
